Teia rug
—
In these wool compositions, designer Hallgeir Homstvedt pays homage to the pioneering textile work of Anni Albers. Hallgeir’s characteristic exploration of optical effects in his work finds new expression in these Teia rugs, which combine organic undyed and hand-dyed wools. Teia, which means web or a weaving warp in Portuguese, features simple graphical patterns of intersecting lines and planes which build upon each other to create complex visual rhythms. Carefully calibrated colour relationships — from calm and muted tones to dynamic and saturated contrasts — transform systematic symmetry into visual vivacity. Whether anchoring a space or adorning walls as tufted art, these pieces blur the line between artistic statement and functional object.
