NiU

NiU is a modular sofa inspired by a box that opens and gives you a glimpse of what lies hidden inside. The walls lean back and to the side, giving the sofa a dynamic character that is interesting from every angle. The details of NiU are thoroughly considered; upholstery, the use of materials and stitch details are all emphasized when developing this sofa.

Hallgeir Homstvedt says: «In Catalan «niu» means «nest», and that is exactly what I wanted to create with the NiU sofa; a zone shielded from the surrounding interior with high walls, an inside filled with soft cushions and a generous depth made to share.»

NiU has two basic modules; 1,5 seater and 2 seater. By offering these modules with or without armrests, and with or without a back, the opportunities are many. The modules can be combined in different ways and perfectly adapt to various spaces or needs – almost like a bird puts together its nest, piece by piece. The two base modules can be added and combined in different variations to create everything from a corner sofa to a single daybed.
